Stuck for interesting ways to welcome in the New Year? Well, to celebrate its bicentenary Dulwich Picture Gallery will unveil a borrowed masterpiece every month until the end of 2011.

Lawrence’s ‘Portrait of Sir John Soane’ kicks off the innovative calendar and is presently hanging on the end wall of the gallery’s enfilade. It will be replaced in February by Velazquez’ ‘El bufón Don Sebastián de Morra.’
