David Bailey and Bruce Weber shoot images of Harlem life on a camera phone

Bailey and Weber took this collection of pictures over the course of one day in the New York City neighbourhood

Two photographic heavyweights have teamed up on an unusual assignment – spending the day in Harlem, shooting images with a camera phone.

In a break from their usual celebrity subject matter, Brit David Bailey and American Bruce Weber took this collection of pictures on a Nokia Lumia 1020 over the course of one day in the New York City neighbourhood.

The pair visited a host of local businesses, including the Apollo Theatre, Westside Boxing Gym and Harlem Shake Restaurant.

Mr Weber said of the project: "I don’t do digital and this is the first time I have really gone out in the world and done a digital sitting."

The photos are currently being exhibited at the Nicholls & Clarke Building in Shoreditch, East London.

The exhibition, entitled "Weber X Bailey by Nokia Lumia 1020" will run until 21 September and is free to members of the public.
