LIAM O'CONNOR, who organised the Prince of Wales's Vision of Britain exhibition in 1989, has been appointed architectural adviser to John Gummer, Secretary of State for the Environment. Mr O'Connor, 33, a keen Neo- Classicist, will advise Mr Gummer on the urban design qualities of schemes called in for public inquiry. The appointment is seen as further evidence of Mr Gummer's commitment to good design, coming as it does after his criticism of Britain's expanding edge-of-town superstores and announcements of planning measures to limit the number of new roads.
