Male Russian ballet stars past their prime don't like twiddling their thumbs, so Irek Mukhamedov (above) has decided to twiddle female hearts instead as the titular anti-hero of Arc Dance Company's The Return of Don Juan. Under-employed by the Royal Ballet, he has worked with Arc before and presumably doesn't mind Kim Brandstrup's muddled storytelling. This new piece promises to be even more convoluted, with Don Juan catapulted out of Hell into a film studio where Mozart's Don Giovanni is being filmed. Still, Arc's promise of dark drama mixed with comedy should suit Mukhamedov's powerful persona perfectly.
Arc Dance Company, Sadler's Wells, Rosebery Avenue, London EC1 (0171- 863 8000) 1-3 Mar, 7.30pm
