If you have wondered about the absence of shopping trolleys outside the Tesco-style brick facade next to St Pancras Station, it is because it actually belongs to the new British Library. Inside, though, are not only books, but quiet spaces to be enhanced by Stephen Koplowitz's site-specific Babel Index (above), commissioned by Dance Umbrella. An American who also has animated New York's Grand Central Station and last year the London Natural History Museum, Koplowitz does things on a grand scale. He will co-ordinate 54 dancers, music and slide projections around different levels of the library to explore the building's architecture and evoke the passing on of knowledge.
Babel Index, The British Library, 96 Euston Road, London NW1 (0171-387 0031) Wed 9.30pm, Thur & Fri 7.30pm, 14-15 Nov 6.30 & 8.30pm
