Cloverfield 3: JJ Abrams-produced God Particle release date pushed back

The release date for forthcoming Cloverfield film God Particle has been delayed yet again.

It's been confirmed that the second sequel in the anthology franchise, which began with Cloverfield a decade ago, will be released on 20 April.

The JJ Abrams-produced film was originally set for a February 2017 release until Paramount cut it from its schedule before announcing it as 2 February 2018. Doubts were cast, however, considering there has been no trailer for the project which has been shrouded in secrecy ever since its confirmation.

God Particle, directed by Julius Onah from a script by Oren Uziel and Doug Jung, follows a group of astronauts aboard an international space station who must fight for their survival after making a shocking discovery. It stars David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Elizabeth Debicki, Ziyi Zhang, Daniel Brühl and Chris O'Dowd.

Surprise Cloverfield sequel, 10 Cloverfield Lane, was released in 2016 starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Goodman.
