First Call
PHILL JUPITUS (right), a team captain on BBC2's pop-quiz show Never Mind the Buzzcocks, is bringing his comic twists to another stalwart of pop culture; Star Wars. "I'm calling it the Tour de Force," says Jupitus. "This is the special edition with new computer-generated gags. I'm nicking from George Lucas all down the line."

Last Call
MICK MARTIN'S new play The Immigrant Song begins at a point of great historical change - the independence of India - and ends with an unsettlingly familiar modern-day scenario. After Nihar emigrates from Pakistan to Bradford, he struggles to be accepted at a time when immigrants were expected to quietly assimilate the British way of life. Fifty years later and the buzz word is multi-culturalism. But when Nihar's son is arrested for no apparent reason, it appears that distrust remains. However, despite such bleak events, Martin suggests that there is hope for the future.
Albany Theatre, Douglas Way, London SE8 (0181-692 4446) to Nov 14.
