Sir: Reading Howard Jacobson's article "Ping Pong: A love story" (18 August), I was reminded of a piece by Beachcomber many decades ago in which he said, "Table tennis? It's got to be called ping pong. You might just as well call the game of darts `Indoor Archery'."
