Sir: David Beaty (letter, 10 May) says that during the Second World War he dropped gold bars to the Serb partisans. Actually he made drops to the Communist partisans, who included all ethnic groups, were led by Tito, half Croat, and had in their ranks a young Franjo Tudjman, now President of Croatia. Mr Beaty is also wrong to suggest that low-level bombing guarantees total accuracy - plenty of examples from that war and subsequent conflicts prove otherwise.
