Sir Your comparison between teachers, journalists and lawyers (leading article, 7 April) is misguided. The latter professions are inherently competitive, not to say adversarial: the first is, or should be, co-operative and collegiate. Awarding a few "star" teachers performance-related pay will sunder the bonds that forge a school staff into a team, to the detriment of all our children.
