JONATHAN DIMBLEBY recalls 50 Years of Any Questions (8pm R4), delving behind the scenes to look at their often opinionated audiences, and remember fondly the pre- programme dinners. Richard Osborne's excellent series The Other Karajan (3pm R3) ends with Herbert von Karajan's preoccupation with "love, death, dissolution and transcendence"; recordings include extracts from Tristan und Isolde, Mahler's Ninth and Strauss's Metamorphosen. Or you can get much the same themes on Radio 4, where the season of plays and reading based on Dubliners by James Joyce (right), ends with a Prix Italia-nominated dramatisation of The Dead (3pm R4).
