John O'Keefe's riotous comedy of mayhem and madness in a Hampshire village is like Preston Sturges circa 1791. A massive hit for the RSC in the mid- Seventies, the National is looking to repeat the trick.

Steven Pimlott returns to Stratford with Tobias Hoheisel whose designs for Glyndebourne's The Makropulos Case caused such a sensation. The cast includes David Troughton as Richard and Susan Brown as Elizabeth.
