pervading our decade will only be intensified by the gradual social rehabilitation of the films of German director Rainer Werner Fassbinder. The ICA staged a substantial retrospective only recently, and now Manchester's Cornerhouse is putting on an even bigger one, aptly entitled 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'. Twenty five of the grim one's 43 films will be shown throughout September, including the 15-hour epic Berlin Alexanderplatz. The retrospective concludes with two special events: a day school and talks given by film-maker Hans- Gunther Pflaum and Juliane Lorenz, Fassbinder's editor.
