Palace

They've been Music and Brothers, though deep-fried country- blues under any other name would sound as dark and rich and sensual. Essentially, the band (whose profane and profound new album Arise, Therefore is out now) amounts to Will Oldham, his guitar and some pals. The pals won't be there on Sunday. But you should.

Sun 8.30pm, Dingwalls, London NW1 (0171-267 1999)

Super Furry Animals

It's all happening in Wales. The Creation-signed rock-puppies play a brace of shows prior to their metamorphosis into world-dominating stadium hounds, probably. Sun 7.30pm, Gloucester Guildhall (01452 505089); Fri 3 May, Blackwood Miner's Institute (01495 227206)

Maceo Parker & Roots Revisited Band

Erstwhile JB and "character" saxophonist to whom all funksters are indebted. Should cook, despite the absence of old chinas Fred Wesley and Pee Wee Ellis. Wear both your good feet.

Sat 8pm, London Forum NW5 (0171-284 2200); Sun 8pm, Blackheath Concert Halls, London SE3 (0181-463 0100)
