MAN OF THE proletariat Karl Marx (right) is the subject of Sound Stories (11am R3): excerpts from Verdi's Nabucco and Schulhoff's The Communist Manifesto help to set the mood. Performance on 3 (7.30pm R3) airs a concert recorded at the Royal Northern College of Music's first Festival of Brass last month: featured work is by Philip Wilby and John McCabe.

To mark Ash Wednesday, there's a new series, Lent Talks (8.45pm R4), in the first of which the novelist AN Wilson discusses his loss of faith but residing affection for the Church.

Money talks later tonight in Mammon (11.30pm R4FM), a repeat of episode one of the timely and promising anti- corporation satire.
