WE HAVE all dreamed of being the bionic man or woman at some stage. According to The Material World (4.30pm R4), our dreams may soon be realised. Researchers at De Montfort University have grafted living cells on to porous silicon, a substance that is thought to be the key to successful animal cell growth and ultimately, the development of electronic limbs. Trevor Phillips (right) investigates.
