A wave of political correctness has been sweeping over Hollywood's treatment of the American Indian. SON OF THE MORNING STAR (9.30pm BBC1), a two-part film about the Plains Indian War, is the latest to break on our shores. The title of this good-looking drama is taken from the Crow name for General Custer ('He who attacks at dawn'). Adapted by Melissa Mathison (author of ET) from Evan S Connell's novel, the story centres on the conflict between Custer (Gary Cole, in goatee and flowing locks, almost unrecognisable from his role in Midnight Caller) and Crazy Horse (Rodney A Grant, complete with lightning warpaint). Their opposing views of the 10 years leading up to the Battle of Little Big Horn are presented by Libbie Custer (Rosanna Arquette) and Kate Bighead (Buffy Sainte Marie.)
