Ice Cube (Glasgow Barrowlands, 041- 226 4679, Thurs; Bradford Univ, 0274 383300, Fri; Academy Brixton, 071-326 1022, Sat). Scary gangsta rapper with heavyweight support from loyal and dexterous henchmen Da Lench Mob.

The Giants of 70s Soul (Wembley Arena, 081-900 1234, tomorrow; Birmingham NEC, 021-780 4133, Tues). Massive nostalgia package featuring nine - count them - nine disco sensations from that decade before last, including K C & the Sunshine Band, Rose Royce and George McCrae.

Daytripper (Brighton Centre, 0273 202881, Fri; Blackpool Empress Ballroom, 0253 27786, Sat). The Charlatans and Ride prove they are not in fact the same band by touring together.

Therapy? (Liverpool Univ, 051-794 2000, Thurs; Bristol Univ, 0272 299008, Fri; Manchester Univ, 061-839 0858, Sat; then touring). Fast-rising Northern Irish power trio, with big value support from literate rockabillies Gallon Drunk and those cacophonous troublemakers Silverfish.

Sting (London Royal Albert Hall, 071- 589 8212, tomorrow-Wed, Fri-Sat). The only UK dates for the man who gave the world 'De Do Do Do De Da Da Da'.
