Timberlake Wertenbaker has established herself as one of the country's leading dramatists with such works as Our Country's Good and Three Birds Alighting on a Field. Her new play, The Break of Day, starring Anita Dobson (above right) and directed by Max Stafford-Clark, focuses on a group of women, their husbands and lovers. It examines the feelings of anxiety and dissatisfaction that pervade the group as they are forced to choose between work and family.
