Game of Thrones actors' reunion overshadowed by Mel Gibson tribute
Jason Momoa and Peter Dinklage reunited for an Instagram post, but Momoa's tribute to the Lethal Weapon star has provoked criticism
A reunion between two of the key players in Game of Thrones has been overshadowed by controversy surrounding a photo with Mel Gibson.
Peter Dinklage and Jason Momoa, who played Tyrion Lannister and Khal Drogo on the hit HBO fantasy series, are seen smiling together in a photograph uploaded to Mamoa's Instagram account.
Also in the picture, however, is Gibson, whose presence has raised eyebrows among many of the commenters.
Gibson is a controversial figure after being involved in a string of incidents, including being accused of making racist and anti-Semitic remarks, and alleged domestic violence against his former partner Oksana Grigorieva.
Momoa captioned the post with the words: "ICON. legend MEL you made my childhood amazing MAD MAX MARTIN RIGGS WILLIAM WALLACE in my opinion even a greater director. Thank you sir for APOCALYPTO and yes anything you need from me IM F**KING IN MEL."
Some of the comments underneath the post reacted in surprise to Mamoa's tribute, saying things like "this ain't it, buddy" and "This makes me ill."
Game of Thrones weathered accusations of offensiveness when it was still on the air, with its alleged objectification of women being one of the main recurring criticisms.
