AWARDS, awards; and now the Classic CD awards, which the fast-rising magazine will be presenting on 11 March. Independent readers may be surprised by the magazine's claim that 'no other classical music awards allow readers to vote', especially if they themselves voted for the Personality of the Year in last week's Classical Music Awards 1994. But at least Classic CD is making a move towards a degree of independence from the industry-dominated gong ceremonies that the recording world has favoured. Its readers will vote in 11 categories, and Anna Ford will host the presentations at the Royal College of Music.
