SEEKERS of operatic rarities will be heading for Leeds Civic Theatre next week to see Weber's Der Freischutz performed by the local company, West Riding Opera, with recitatives that Berlioz wrote for it in 1841. Never before performed in Britain, the recitatives have been made available as a copy of the full score, which is in the library of Naples Conservatoire. They include some 20 minutes' music, using the full orchestra; the New Berlioz Edition will eventually publish them. WRO has returned regularly to Weber's operas, giving Euryanthe and Oberon in the past two decades. This is its second production of Freischutz, and runs from Monday to Saturday (box office 0532 455505).
