Some UK Airports have upgraded to advanced CT scanners, allowing liquids and laptops to remain in carry-on bags during security checks.
However, the 100ml liquid limit remains in effect, even at Airports with the new scanners.
The liquid rules, introduced in 2006 as a temporary measure, were supposed to be eased by June 2024, but the deadline was missed.
The 100ml restriction was reimposed due to the new scanners misidentifying harmless items as threats and concerns about potentially dangerous items being cleared.
While the new technology aims to improve security and passenger experience, inconsistencies in global security procedures persist, causing confusion for travelers.
