Network Rail engineering works will affect trains out of London Paddington over the Easter holidays (Simon Calder)
The Easter holidays are expected to bring travel chaos in the UK, with disruptions anticipated across trains, flights, and roads.
Road congestion is predicted to be severe, especially on the M5, M6, M25, and A303, with Thursday April 17 expected to be the busiest day.
Rail travel will be significantly affected by Network Rail engineering works, impacting key routes such as the West Coast main line and routes from London Paddington and London Victoria.
Air travel disruptions are also anticipated due to staff shortages at air traffic control centers, potentially causing significant flight delays, particularly for flights to and from France and Spain.
Ferry travel may experience delays, especially for those returning from France, potentially due to increased congestion at UK Border Control as European visitors adjust to new Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) requirements.
