Katy Perry makes history with all-women space flight

  • Katy Perry and five other women have made history as the first all-female crew to launch into space in over six decades.
  • The mission, Blue Origin Flight NS-31, used an autonomous rocket from Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin.
  • The crew also included Gayle King, former Nasa scientist Aisha Bowe, activist Amanda Nguyen, producer Kerianne Flynn, and journalist Lauren Sanchez, who is Mr Bezos’s fiancée.
  • The brief journey involved approximately four minutes in space before returning to Earth, totalling just over 10 minutes.
  • The launch took place in West Texas, with the crew successfully touching down shortly after 2.30pm Monday BST.
