  • Analysis by the Independent shows a wide range of pass rates at driving test centres across the UK, with the lowest found in Featherstone (33.8 per cent) and Wolverhampton (33.9 per cent).
  • Higher pass rates were observed in Ipswich (65 per cent) and Dorchester (66 per cent), while smaller centres like Inveraray (87 per cent) and the Isles of Scilly (88 per cent) boasted even better results.
  • The national average pass rate is 48.5 per cent, based on data from April to September 2024, which included 918,633 tests.
  • Long wait times for driving tests persist, averaging 20 weeks in February 2025, up from 14 weeks a year earlier.
  • The DVSA is working to reduce wait times by recruiting more examiners and implementing measures to discourage learners from booking tests before they're ready.
