  • The Met Office has issued a "very high" pollen warning for several regions in England this week, including the East of England, London and the South East, and the East Midlands.
  • High pollen counts can trigger hay fever symptoms such as sneezing, itchy eyes, mouth, and throat, and blocked noses.
  • The "very high" warning is due to warm, dry conditions favouring tree pollen, especially birch.
  • The Met Office advises hay fever sufferers to avoid pollen exposure if possible and consider antihistamines, corticosteroids, or eye drops for symptom relief. More severe cases should consult a GP.
  • Over 10 million people in Britain suffer from hay fever.
