Lisbon’s airport was the most impacted, with 45 per cent of departures cancelled, followed by Seville with one-third of its departing flights grounded.
Around 4,000 passengers traveling to or from the UK experienced cancellations, primarily on routes to and from Lisbon, Faro, and Malaga.
Several airlines have offered passengers the option to rebook on later flights, but not all airlines are providing this flexibility.
An estimated 500,000 tourists are currently in Spain, and 70,000 UK holidaymakers are in Portugal.
