I found your article about CD-rom encyclopaedias (6 May) interesting as I recently bought Microsoft's Encarta, which has already proved itself a remarkable source of information. (I also intend to procure the new edition of Hutchinson's - British-based, 33,000 articles and, at pounds 50, a very sensible price. It is due for release in June, perhaps you should inform your readers before they rush out to buy Encarta.)
I have not tried to print a graphics file via my word processor, a process which failed you with Groliers, but have discovered a weakness on Encarta: fractions are filed in bitmap form and print out incomprehensively, as I discovered when my 10-year-old asked me about fractions. For example: 'Simple fractions are familiar: a dime is / of a dollar; 6 of a pie plus 4 of a pie is ) of a pie; and so on.'
