Unorthodox partnerships are not uncommon in the restaurant industry. However, the news that Britney Spears' ex, Kevin Federline, is supposedly going into partnership with Jamie Spears, the troubled singer's father and court-appointed custodian, on the takeover of a Los Angeles Mexican restaurant, Casa Cordobes, hints at the most bizarre hospitality union since Marco Pierre White and champion jockey Frankie Dettori said "I do".

Equally unconventional, but infinitely more appealing, is the latest from Manhattan chef-of-the-moment, David Chang. The young Korean-American has a third restaurant to add to his Lower East Side Momofuku empire. Momofuku Ko is waiter-free and consists of 14 stools at a counter, an expensive range and a couple of chefs turning out and serving tasting menus. Open for dinner from Wednesday to Monday, bookings can only be made online and are, predictably, oversubscribed.
