Bites: The hand of Gord strikes again
As Gordon Ramsay opens his third gastro-pub in less than a year, The Warrington in Maida Vale (pictured), details of the latest London boozer to get a make-over at the hand of Gord have emerged.
The York and Albany in Camden, closed for two years, will re-open in May under Ramsay's right-hand woman Angela Hartnett, as a bar, restaurant and 10-bedroom hotel. The Grade-II-listed building, bought by Ramsay for £4m, originally opened in 1827, built by Regent's Park architect John Nash.
Meanwhile, over in Manhattan, Zak Pelaccio, the chef behind the popular Fatty Crab in the Meatpacking District and the not-so-successful Suka at The Sanderson in London, has opened Chop Suey on Times Square.
Despite a name that suggests Americanised Chinese, dishes such as braised pork belly with crispy shrimp and sweet chilli owe more to Korea, with desserts such as lychee bubble tea with toasted meringue of lime and rosewater coming courtesy of wacky pastry chef-at-large Will Goldfarb.
