"Fat Ronaldo" isn't fat any more.
The Brazil legend, full name Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, got the unfortunate nickname off nostalgic officianados after his fame was supplanted by his rather-more-athletic namesake, Cristiano Ronaldo.
But now, after a stint on a Brazilian celebrity weight loss TV show, he has proudly tweeted a picture of his toned new frame (pictured, centre).
Hailed as one of the best in the world in the late 90s, Ronaldo has an enviable record of over 400 goals in around 600 games at clubs including Barcelona, Real Madrid and both Milan Clubs. During his playing career his was named World Player of the Year three times.
He also scored more World Cup goals than anyone else, with 15. Two of those came in the 2002 final against Germany, helping Brazil to their fifth title.
But before his 2011 retirement from the game, the buck-toothed assassin struggled with his weight and cut a portly and immobile figure on the pitch.
He may hope that after getting himself in shape, he'll be "Fat Ronaldo" no more.
