Ricky Gervais resurrects David Brent for one-off special of The Office
David Brent will be back on our TV screens in March - “fact”.
The cringeworthy egoist will return for a one-off episode of The Office for Comic Relief.
It has been a decade since The Office was last broadcast on British TV, and it looks like Brent is still bent on pursuing a career in music.
He is now a talent manager in the music industry and tries to launch the career of solo urban artist Dom Johnson in the episode.
The former Slough regional manager of paper merchants Wernham Hogg becomes a door-to-door cleaning products salesman to fund his latest venture.
“I thought it was time to revisit my most famous comedy creation to find out what he’s been up to for the last decade,” Gervais told The Sun.
“He is passing on his wisdom to younger would-be stars now. Well, really he is trying to worm his way back into rock and roll. Fans of The Office will be excited to know we finally get to hear the whole of ‘The Serpent Who Guards the Gates of Hell’.”
A trailer for the mini-episode shows Gervais strumming a guitar to Brent’s new protest song “Equality Street”. Gervais tweeted a promotional picture for the song, in which he describes the self-funded video as “horrendous.”
