The Princess Royal, President, Animal Health Trust, attends the Animal Welfare Symposium, Royal Society, London SW1; visits Musto Limited, Laindon, Essex; and as Patron, Spinal Injuries Association, attends the Grand National Anniversary Ball, Dorchester Hotel, London W1. The Duchess of Gloucester opens the new Adult In-Patient Psychiatric Facilities at Hellesdon Hospital, Norwich; visits Norwich Cathedral and meets members of the St Matthew Society; and visits the offices of Norwich and District Victim Support, Norwich. Princess Alexandra opens Crieff Hospital, Perthshire; and as President, visits the Imperial Cancer Research Fund Shop, Crieff, Perthshire.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 1st Battalion Scots Guards mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Irish Guards.
