Twitter was alive with the sound of praise for Top Gear last night, with an estimated 2,000 tweets per minute according to Twitter analytics company Second Sync.
Of those 2,000 tweets it seemed 1,900 were people either tweeting “how amazing is #topgear !!" or "gutted Top Gear is over till the summer!!"
But some were sceptical about whether James May really had discovered the source of the River Nile when he found a puddle surrounded by rocks in the middle of the Tanzanian outback.
The second part of the Africa special averaged 5.7 million viewers, beating off competition from ITV which pulled in 5.2 million for Dancing on Ice: The Skate Off.
Here are our top tweets, "amazing" and "gutted" not included.
