A silver medallist and one of three white wines of the year, this lightly oaked, peachy Italian chardonnay made by Aussie Master of Wine Kym Milne slips down dangerously easily. Drink on its own or with fish or chicken.

Red

1997 Santa Rita Triple C, Maipo Valley, Chile, £10.99, Majestic Wine Warehouses

No shy and retiring red, this blend of cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and Chile's own carmenere grapes (hence Triple C) is robust blackcurrant with a hint of mintiness. It's unfiltered, so needs decanting an hour before drinking.
