Dockland TV row hearing

Eight-hundred Docklands residents will learn soon if compensation claims against Canary Wharf for ruined television reception can go ahead.

A preliminary hearing on 25 July will decide if the owners of the tower might be liable. People living near by said hundreds of pounds has been wastedon television licences and cable or aerial alterations.

Canary Wharf Ltd will contest the claim.

Solicitor Sally Moore said: 'We are seeking compensation for those who had no television for two years. Many are elderly or not well off and they were left without their primary source of cheap entertainment. We are arguing that there is a fundamental right to receive clear television pictures.

Sister Christine, secretary of Splash (South Poplar and Limehouse Action for Secure Housing), said: 'People here are all very angry.
