The world's finest carcoat-wearer and Yamaha organ-player stars in "The Beast of John Shuttleworth". The idea behind the sweetly bumbling showbiz never-was, his creator Graham Fellows says, is that Shuttleworth is "a really kind man. I'm fed-up with angry comedians. It's not very interesting when people like Ben Elton are in-your-face. People laugh at swear-words, you presume, out of embarrassment. Gentle comedy is a good 1990s antidote to the in-your-face style which came out of the yuppie, go-getting society of the 1980s."
`The Beast of John Shuttleworth' is at Farnham Maltings (01252 726234) 12 Nov, and the Bloomsbury Theatre, London (0171-388 8822) 13-15 Nov
