THE NEW Internet bank from the Co-op, smile.co.uk (0870 8432265), went live last week, knocking spots off the bricks-and-mortar banks by paying an impressive 4 per cent gross for current accounts in credit, a no-fee pounds 500 overdraft and an authorised overdraft rate of 9.9 per cent. The "smile bank" offers no-notice savings accounts at 5.25 per cent, credit cards with an introductory loan rate of 4.9 percent APR and free credit of 46 days, as well as personal loans and ISAs.
