Going for a pong The new wave of summer scents are upon us. Here's what our random samplers thought.

L'Eau D'Issey alcohol-free sun mist: "sickly sweet - and it lasts for ever", "had to wash it off", "fine, if you don't want to pull", and a lone voice, "a wonderful, light daytime fragrance."

L'Eau D'Issey Pour Homme: "too lemony to begin with, then too floral", "just not distinctive enough" and "liked it at first, then the top notes went and it was Yardley's product for old ladies."

Hermes 24, Faubourg: "too heavy", "too old, too musty, too powdery" and "pretty bottle, but it's for rich men who like their rich women to smell sweet and yielding."

Annick Goutal's Eau d'Hadrien for men and women, an old favourite being given a fresh PR push to coincide with the launch of Calvin Klein's unisex CK1: "unfussy, upbeat, fresh", "very light and summery", "great, I wish it didn't wear off so fast."

Alexander's Screw You: the collective response was F*** Off. No one fell for the Hi-teK Junior design - it's a big screw, OK? - and the contents were deemed "revolting".
