Describing house music outside London as "bungalow", as Cayte Williams does in her article "Clubbing is dead ... long live clubbing" (Real Life, 14 December), is the attitude of somebody who has forgotten what house is all about. It is about atmosphere - something provincial clubs have in abundance precisely because they reject the elitism which underlies Williams's London-centric attitude. Also, Ecstasy still defines club culture - more so among the 16-year-olds Williams describes than it ever did for the alleged E-generation. To deny this is wrong and irresponsible. The need to tackle the Ecstasy issue with effective education is more pressing than it ever has been.
