The list of "moral" issues produced by the Movement for Christian Democracy depresses me. As a Christian, I understand that we all have personal views on the National Lottery, screen violence, genetic engineering, abortion, and the like. But to evaluate candidates in an election on this basis is petty and ignores the teachings of Jesus.
Christians should apply the more challenging aspects of the Gospels. We should support candidates who will, regardless of ambition, party caution, or the interests of "Middle England", ensure that the least of God's children are not hungry, poorly clothed, or victimised.
