CAROLE NASH, the insurance broker, is cutting premiums by an average 20 per cent for "modern classic" bikes, machines registered before 1990. For example, a 29-year-old in Northampton, riding a 1987 GPZ1100 in good condition worth pounds 3,000, would normally pay pounds 237 insurance. The new Spirit policy costs pounds 189, but would also include a pounds 100 excess, and free UK vehicle breakdown recovery as well as legal protection cover.
