A woman dressed in only a skimpy nightie gave chase to two car thieves. Rene Beadle, 47, heard them taking her son's car in the early hours and set off after them in her Ford Granada for 35 miles until they abandoned the Escort near Dartford bridge.

Rene, from Dagenham, east London, said: 'My son had saved up for three years for his first car and I wasn't going to let them get away.
