Elegant Austerity (Waddington Galleries, W1, 0171 437 8611, Wed to 14 Mar). A homage to that obsessed virtuoso of the square, Josef Albers, together with some minimal abstract and conceptual artists who have similar concerns. Rare pictures by Malevich and Mondrian, a piece by Lucio Fontana, American paintings and sculpture by Agnes Martin, Ad Reinhardt, Carl Andre and Don Judd.

William MacTaggart (Edinburgh Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, 0131 624 6200, to 10 May). Too little known south of the border, MacTaggart (1903-1981) was brilliantly gifted. There are clear affinities with Munch, Rouault and others.
