Power to the Sixties
The Time: Now
The Place: Everywhere
The Essentials: The hit kitsch movie Austin Powers has spawned a revival of everything Sixties. Whether it's cars, lamps, fish tanks or bean bags, they're back and likely to find a place in your home, too. As Austin Powers, "International Man of Mystery", would say, "It's really groovy, baby."
Most trendy homes in the Sixties had an aquarium but if you cannot afford the real thing, float away with these psychedelic fish from Boots (far right). They cost pounds 5 for two floating fish and pounds 3.50 per standing fish.
Marvel at your mini-aquarium from the comfort of a Pom Pom bag (right), which comes in cream and chocolate and is available from Echo (0171-251 6990).
This original Sixties Octavia (below right) is one of the grooviest motors around, and while it is a collector's car, Skoda is relaunching a 1990s version next June.
No lounge is complete without a lava lamp like the Telstar (far right) from Mathmos, inventor and manufacturer of the original lava lamp. It costs pounds 59.95 and is available by mail order (0171-4056990).
The ultimate glitter kit for lips and nails (left) from Boots, priced pounds 5, adds sparkle to any evening.
