If you haven't heard Simon Armitage reading poetry on Radio 1's Mark Radcliffe Show, you may have seen his stanzas on the Tube. The title of this collection alludes to his current predilection for observing the night sky from his home outside Huddersfield - a place proverbially associated with cuckoos. This in turn has inspired his unfussy, sharp and always original verse.
