The Oare Windmill, a mile from Faversham in Kent (and mainline railway link to London, 70 minutes), was built for a corn dealer in 1819. It was turned into a private home in 1963. Grade II listed, the redbrick mill has been recently renovated. The first floor former "meal" room is now a 22ft sitting-room and kitchen, leading out onto a circular verandah with views across to Swale Marshes.
