Suntory 72 St James's St, SW1, 0171 409 0201. Popular with London's Japanese community so take your phrasebook with you. Open 12 noon-2pm, 6pm-10pm Mon-Sat. Closed Sunday. Prices from pounds 2 for a single sushi sample, set lunch from pounds 15, set dinner from pounds 49.80.

Moshimoshi Sushi Unit 24, Liverpool Street station, EC2, 0171 247 3227. Lunchtimes are madly busy, but the food is tasty and fast. Mon-Fri, 11.30am- 9pm. Closed at weekends. Prices: 90p -pounds 2.50. Set meals: pounds 4.50-pounds 9.

Hokkai 59-61 Brewer St, W1, 0171 734 5826. Expensive, but the wide selection of good quality sushi should be worthwhile bait. Open 12.30pm-3pm, 5.30pm- 11pm Mon-Sat (10pm on Sundays). Sushi assortment from pounds 15.80. Set lunch from pounds 10, set dinner from pounds 22.

Daruma-Ya Unit 5, Commercial Quay, 62-64 Commercial Street, Edinburgh (entrance on Dock Place), 0131 554 7660. New and impressive. Mon-Sat, 12 noon- 2.30pm, 6pm until late. Closed Sunday. Set lunch from pounds 5.50, set dinner from pounds 11.

Samurai 1E Chandos Rd, Redland, Bristol, 01179 742816. A delicate 11- piece sushi platter costs pounds 13 but can be ordered as a shared starter or a main dish. 24-hours' notice is required to give the chef a chance to buy and prepare the fresh fish.Tues-Sat, 7.30pm-late.
