Some of the findings of surveys taken since the start of this year:

2 per cent of people thought that some money from the National Lottery should be spent on overseas aid.

19 per cent of Americans think that OJ Simpson will go to heaven.

30 per cent of men chose Paula Yates as the woman with whom they would least like to share a pot of tea.

32 per cent of women chose John Major as the man with whom they would least like to share a pot of tea.

40 per cent of British people frequently snore.

67 per cent of Americans are certain that heaven exists.

70 per cent of British people are still worried about catching Creutzfeldt- Jakob disease from eating beef.

87 per cent of Americans think they are likely to go to heaven.
